1972 things we did ???

1972 was when i started out on the buses and i never thought i would still be driving them today but yes i am and still get a buzz .But not as much as i used to anyway back then it was a lot more fun . when you had "driver and conductor" as i started as a conductor it was fun on the back loader's? and ringing the bells "hold tight please ding ding " as the bus pulled off and you would go and collect the fares and chat to the customers and chat up the young girls (well i did with results.?) and then take them out for a drink at the weekend .
when working on the layland atlantean`s you could speak with the driver and have a laugh one driver i work with a lot was mick who had a nickname "mango"( as in mango Jerry ) who was a good mate as well you would not believe the things that we got up to . Well i will reveal so of the things we did . -( ON THE BUSES )
Right picture it was a cold day 06 05 in the morning we had just sing on i went and got the teas and mick went and look at the broad to see whot bus we had i remember it was a " 1966 layland atlantean with the old hand brake. (Bournemouth transport should have told you that.) anyway so mick went to start it up as i went and got my ticket machine fill the flask (for tea later ) and went to the bus so SEMIAUTO and doors included when i arrived at the bus mick was standing up in the drive`s seat looking up and doing the blind with right foot on the pedal to the metal reving it up to get it warm with tea in one hand and machine in other doors where closed i shouted open the doors mungo got your tea and mine. so not looking down he put his hand on the gear leaver and put it in whot he tho rt was doors (to open ) BUT it was first gear ? oops well Whot happend next was the bus jump forward hit the bus in front to which that bus hit the next one o and mick well was thrown back in to his seat with legs in the air and me well tea went everywhere and i went backwards on to the floor. as you can imagine it cause chaos.??
